Join the American Rose Society

To All Rose Lovers,

It is a great pleasure to welcome rose enthusiasts to the Las Vegas Valley Rose Society. Membership is open to everyone who savors the pleasure of growing, displaying or admiring roses.

At our monthly meetings, the speakers present interesting subjects for rose-lovers. Topics relate to many forms of roses including Miniatures, Old Garden Roses, Hybrid Teas, Floribundas, Grandifloras, and Climbing Roses.

Early each spring we provide pruning demonstrations, and planting instruction. Be sure to ask about our list of roses that grow best in this area. Our helpful month-to-month rose care guide will be appreciated by rose growers throughout Southern Nevada.

Our Consulting Rosarians are rose experts who volunteer to share their knowledge of rose culture with rose growers in the Las Vegas area. They can help solve any problems the rose gardener might have, especially problems which might relate to our unique desert climate.

About the American Rose Society

Founded in 1892, the American Rose Society is an educational, nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to the cultivation and enjoyment of roses. The American Rose Society is a national organization with over 24,000 members dedicated to the enjoyment, enhancement and promotion of America's Floral Emblem. Over 380 local chapters and affiliates throughout the country offer rose-related activities and information. Many of the members of these societies have been designated as Consulting Rosarians, and have agreed to assist other rose growers with their rose problems and questions.

Most ARS members are home gardeners like you who enjoy growing roses and want to expand their knowledge of rose culture. Many members also enjoy the thrill of exhibiting their roses in competition with other rose-lovers. The American Rose Society has developed standards and guidelines for guiding these competitions. We also publish a schedule of the various workshops, seminars and rose shows.

The Society has its headquarters located on the grounds of the beautiful American Rose Center near Shreveport, Louisiana. The Center is home to over 20,000 rose bushes comprising nearly 400 varieties of modern and old roses. We have many events in our Gardens during the year. When you come to Shreveport, be sure to check the Events Schedule so you can attend.

ARS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization governed by a Board of Directors and operated by the staff at the Rose Center under the direction of Executive Director Michael Kromer and an Executive Committee.

Our current President is Tommy Cairns.

The Society also publishes a monthly magazine, The American Rose, available to all members.
