| September 2004 |
Our first meeting of the rose year
will teach us how to make table arrangements. These skills will
be useful for the holidays to come: Halloween, Thanksgiving and
Christmas. |
October 2004 |
Our guest speaker will be Pat Shanley from New
York, representing the ARS. Invite a friend and learn what our parent
organization, the American Rose Society, does for all of us "rose
lovers". |
November 2004 |
Mr. Lynn Griffith from A & L Southern Agricultural
Laboratories will be our guest speaker and will give us the "dirt"
on dirt. He will discuss soil tests, what they reveal and much more. |
December 2004 |
It's holiday and party time at the
Las Vegas Valley Rose Society! Join the members for the annual potluck
dinner and gift exchange. The meeting starts at 6:30 pm at the Garden
Club Center. Bring your appetite, a dish to share and a gift for
the gift exchange (under $20). The food is great, company even better
and gift exchange is fun. |
January 2005 |
Now is the time to plant your bareroot
roses. Sam Trivitt will show how to properly prepare our rose beds
for those "soon to arrive" new roses. Tips to assure your
success. |
February 2005 |
This will be a fun meeting about
growing roses A-Z. We will divide into small groups and discuss
various areas of rose growing: fertilizing, watering, favorite &
effective spraying programs. Learn from your fellow members. |
March 2005 |
The new Roses: Tom Carruth, hybridizer
for Weeks Roses, will be our special guest speaker. He will discuss
hybridization and introduce some of the new roses in the Weeks product
line. |

Mini rose show and judging roses:
Bring your roses. We will stage a mini rose show. Learn about the
show schedule and preparing your roses for showing and what the
judges are looking for in an award winner. |
May 2005 |
Make it & take it: Gabriele Ervin
& Lyn Vinson will give an informative program about rose &
garden photography. They will then lead us in a hands on project
using photographs. Bring your favorite picture (preferably 4x6)
and leave with a beautiful notecard. We will also be electing the
officers for the 2005-2006 year. |
June 2005 |
The last meeting of the rose year
will again take place at Dick & Jackie Jackson's home at 6:30
pm. It will include a potluck buffet, bring a dish to share. It
is also the time to install officers for the coming year. Please
give your new officers input as to programs you would like to see
the upcoming year. These event are arranged during the summer and
they would love your thoughts and suggestions. |
