My Rose Gardens

Come visit the garden by the patio.

The emphasis here was to create a cozy spot, like another "room" of the house. Several climbing and bush roses were interplanted with bedding flowers. The roses love the heat and with some afternoon shade they bloom almost 9 months here. The patio faces east, so it's perfect.

Lace Cascade Lace Cascade

"Lace Cascade"

I transplanted this climber a year ago, as you can see it is doing beautifully. This rose blooms all the time, very much like "Iceberg", but it is more fragrant.

The English rose "Abraham Darby" can easily grow to seven feet. It is extremely fragrant. It has always been one of my favorites.

Now this is an interesting climbing rose. The blooms start with yellow, then they get orange, then pink and finally mauve. There are different colored blooms on this bush all the time.

Rose "Perfect Moment" and Honeysuckle Perfect Moment

This rose is beautifully gold and orange to red colored. It has a slight scent. The fragrance of the roses seems to vary according to the weather. I find that here they smell strongest in the early evening after a hot day.

Also blooming by the patio are the hybrid tea "Lucille Ball", beautiful apricot color, light fragrance and very tall.

Next you see the climber "Don Juan", dark red, strong fragrance and blooms a lot.
